Random thoughts

Someone commented on my choices of words today. It happened during one of our very casual conversations. I was mentioning some facts about myself and he questioned it by saying "even if you do it i also won't know right?", then i replied "well, that's up to you.". Then the comment started.

According to him, from the human psychological perspective (he is from Human Resource by the way), the sentence "up to you" actually can kill off a conversation, so it is not so good to use it.

hmm....sounds logical, but I wonder does it apply to all of us? :D

in a way.. when u say that, it is like implying, "think what u want to think"... u know.. "up to you" is not that diplomatic way of talking unless to your friends, where u wanna go, then u reply, "up to you".. but if in a official conversation, it might mean "up to u what you wanna think, it doesnt bother me..."

hahahha..just my 2 cents.. good that he said that too.. so next time we be more alert..

interesting. normally when i use "it's up to you", it is followed by a few more sentences that justify particular choices. i personally feel that if you or the other side is not enthusiastic about one conversation, somehow it will die also lah.
